The Quest for good Search Engine Rankings. Part 1

One of the methods you can use to get good search engine rankings is to acquire good quality links to your site form other similar, non competing quality web sites.

Getting those links can be a time consuming and tedious job at the best of times. And, if you are the sort of person who does not like to ask others for help then it can add a bit of mental anguish to the process.

You can search the web looking for good sites to link too which is very time consuming and when you have found a number of good sites then of course you will need to email the respective web masters and ask if they permit reciprocal links.

Of course whether you get an answer or not is problematical , some will be too busy, others can't be bothered and yet some others may think that your web site is not good enough and usually won't even bother to answer.

A little further on in this article we will show you a way to take out the tedious, time consuming drudgery out of getting links to your web site.

Another reasonable way of getting links to your web site is to post comments or answer questions posted on various forums. Post your comments to as many forums as possible, as, often as possible ,as the more links that you leave at various forums or places the easier it will be for the search engines to find your site and, the more links they find the more inclined they will be to rank your site higher than it has been ranked before. Don't forget to put your URL at the bottom of every item that you post on the forums.

Doing this is a bit time consuming but not as time consuming as emailing individual web masters for links, but having said that, it is a worthwhile exercise posting to the forums because you may well obtain some interesting and beneficial information as you read the various comments posted by other web masters on these forums. Below are some good forums to review and post your comments on.

Then it is only a matter of deciding who you want to link to and then sending an email. Sending an email is only a matter of clicking a button and the pre-built email is on its way to your selected web masters, these people are just like you and me, people looking for quality links the easy way.

Before you visit these sites it would be an excellent idea to find out what Google and Alexa think of these sites that you are visiting. On Google, the higher the number the better. On Alexa the lower the number the better the site is. Experienced web masters all agree that Alexa is the better one of the two, but don't ignore Google it's page rank tool bar is of value too. Don't forget there is not much point linking to a web site that has a lower ranking (particularly on Alexa) than your site. The two tool bars only take a moment or two to download.

You will find that many web masters will tell you that you should not put 1000s or even 100s of links on your web site. Better to have 20 or 30 high quality links rather than 100s of low quality links. The search engines love good quality links and reward those sites that have quality inbound links with a much higher ranking.

A good reason to limit the number of links coming into your site is because the search engines may think that your site is just another link farm and if that is the case, they will penalize your ranking, and that is not what you want is it?

This web site has 35 pages of good content and we only put 1 or 2 links per page on it and at the moment we only have about 22 quality sites that link to us. Since these sites have linked to ours we have noticed that our rankings on both Google and Alexa have improved a substantial amount and that means of course more visitors, more customers and you know what more customers means, EH!!
