Theme based sites or mini sites. Which should you build?

It's long been a matter of debate. Should you be building theme based web sites or building a series of mini sites?

Some of the Internet marketing gurus say that building big 20 plus page theme based web sites is the way to go,and yes the search engines love those type of sites.

Other marketing gurus swear by a series of mini sites of between 3 to 5 pages, containing good content about the product being offered on the site; the search engines like these types of sites too.

You might call these sites mini theme-based-web-sites. Ok! It seems to me that you could make an excellent living going either way.

So where do we go from here - theme based or mini?

Why don't we think out of the box somewhat?

Is there some reason why we could not combine the 2 types of sites, theme based and mini.

If both theme based sites and mini sites contain good content for humans and both were optimized for the search engines then it would seem to me that we could have the best of both worlds.

Building mini sites can be done quite cheaply and easily and there are several reputable marketers out there willing to lead you through the steps. It is a bit more expensive to build a 20 + page web site but with "SBI" web hosting it is easier than falling off a log.
